Karla Gonzalez will graduate in May with a bachelor of business administration in accountancy and finance, and a bachelor of arts in Spanish. She is an has been the recipient of several scholarships throughout her time at Boise State University including the Kirk and Marsha Smith Scholarship, the Idaho Association of Public Accountants Scholarship, the American Institute of CPA’s Scholarship, the Roger A. Martell Scholarship, and the Hilda D. Elliot Accounting Scholarship. She is also a lifetime member of the honor societies of Beta Gama Sigma and National Society of Collegiate Scholars. As a first-generation student, Gonzalez is a natural leader who loves to help others achieve their goals as she reaches for her own.

“Karla was an outstanding student in my accounting class and has been a wonderful student in our program. This fall she is enrolled in our master of science in accountancy program and will be one of our graduate assistants. I know she will excel in that program and will be a great help to us as a GA. I believe that Karla is very deserving of the Top Ten Scholar Award.”
Karla’s future plans include graduate school at Boise State University, working as a graduate assistant for the College of Business and Economics and preparing for the Certified Public Accountant Exam.

During her time as a Boise State student, Karla has served in many leadership roles on campus. As a resident assistant for university housing, she was able to grow as an individual and a professional as she helped first-year students adjust to university life and get involved on campus. In addition, she also helped create a new club on campus called Traditional Multicultural Expressions which included an Aztec dance choreographed for a Cinco de Mayo celebration. Additionally, she was a part of the College of Business and Economics Student Advisory Council providing insights to improve the student experience. Karla represented Boise State at the 2015 KPMG Financial Auditing Case Competition in Seattle, where she was able to meet accounting students from other states and share her amazing experience as a Boise State Bronco.

Karla was born in Zacatecas, Mexico and grew up in Jerome, Idaho.
