Ashley Mehaffie has been hired as the new director of COBE Advising Services.
Mehaffie joined the College of Business and Economics as an academic advisor in 2011. She was later promoted to senior advisor which lead to her recent hiring as the college’s director of Advising Services. In addition to advising, much of Mehaffie’s work in COBE has been related to curriculum management and process improvement. She was a member of COBE’s curriculum committee on behalf of staff and students resulting in college-wide program changes. She has also worked collaboratively with students, faculty and staff to reform processes for the benefit of all the college’s stakeholders.
Keith Harvey, the associate dean of students, looks forward to Mehaffie’s talent and experience being put to work for the benefit of COBE students.
“She is a natural leader, and our staff are thrilled to have her direct our expanded advising effort in the years to come. She’s also a lot of fun to work with.”
Ashley’s appointment to the director of Advising Services is one of many changes the department will experience over the next few years. As COBE begins to transition into a required advising model across its student body, a staff restructure will also take place. Ashley anticipates that “these changes will allow our staff to focus on specific areas of need in the college, providing individuals with a greater sense of responsibility and ownership in their contribution. Reducing ambiguity and enforcing frequent advising will allow us to better serve COBE students by connecting them with appropriate resources and aiding in timely degree progress.”
Mehaffie holds dual bachelor’s degrees in marketing and communication from the University of Montana and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Boise State.
