At least eighteen business students came together for the Net Impact Holiday Party to celebrate the end of their semester and all their accomplishments in the previous four months. This semester, the group consisted of students from the full time and online MBA program. These students also would get an opportunity to glimpse at spring projects during the party.
Net Impact is a student-run group and is open to all upper-level business and interdisciplinary students. Centered around sustainable business, Net Impact emphasizes activities that address social and/or environmental aspects facing businesses. Our priority is to build relationships with our local community and businesses, which we do through hosting guest speakers and managing semester-long business projects.
During the festivities, this year’s group leaders, including Jeff Dee, Andy Gregory, Jordon Heap, and Emily Border, shared highlights of the work this group completed during the fall 2015 semester.
- Student projects with Alzar School and Happy Family
- Net Impact National Conference in Seattle
After a short presentation of past projects, time was turned over to invited business guests to share their pitch for a spring student business project. Charles Westerberg, founder of Animo, shared an exciting summary of his new business, an app equivalent of Yelp for sustainably-minded shoppers. Jordon Heap shared a second spring project on behalf of the Ronald McDonald House about a spring marketing campaign. Students will have an opportunity to join these real-world business projects and develop actual skills and experience with Net Impact’s spring partners.
The Net Impact holiday party also gave students a chance to participate in a community service project. This semester, the group chose to support the Ronald McDonald House with a group donation. Students at the party each donated needed items including paper towels, cleaning wipes, canned foods, and more to help the non-profit throughout the holiday season.
