Design Thinking Project
Contact Ally Daniels for more information – allydaniels@boisestate.edu
The ideal organization has a significant, real-world “Design Challenge” to present to students. Students use Design Thinking principles (interviewing, journey mapping, competitive research) to develop an innovative change or alternative to a current product, service or solution. This is a great project to gain insights about your customers and out-of-the-box ideas to “wicked problems” you may be encountering. Past projects have asked large customer-oriented questions like “What new product should we launch?” “How do we pivot this struggling business”? “How can we better reach / serve our customers?”
- Timeline: Fall semesters, approx. 7 week project
- Format: One organization works with one full class (20-25 students), divided into teams, working on the same project.
- Commitment: 1-2 representatives from your organization will be asked to introduce the challenge, answer questions and then hear presentations/provide feedback on solutions. This student partnership would begin in mid-October and usually require 1-2 in-person, evening opportunities to meet and work with the class.
