Timesheets

GAs complete and submit hard copy timesheets on a bi-weekly basis. New This Year: Each department will be responsible for tracking their own GAs hours. The timesheet shows the number of hours worked during each week, the job performed, and the faculty/staff member for whom the work was done. When you fill in the hours you work, round to the nearest 10th of an hour. The purpose of the timesheet is to track each GA’s duties and the number of hours employed doing GA work. Please list only the time spent on GA work.

Graduate Assistant Timesheet

The Faculty for whom you are working must initial the timesheet and your department supervisor (either the secretary or department chair) must sign it prior to turning it in. It should be submitted to the Graduate Studies Office no later than 10 am every other Monday following the payroll calendar.

Check with your department admin for directions on how to submit your GA hours.

Work Flow

The workflow and departmental demands may vary dramatically from the other GAs. Workflow differences between GAs and their assignments are not uncommon. The expectation for all GAs is they work an average of 20 hours per week over the course of the semester. For example, one week you may only work 10 hours and another you may work over 25.

Your hours are tracked on a real-time basis. If you have any questions regarding your standing, check with your department admin.

Should you find yourself overwhelmed or too far into your contract to complete your 332-hour obligation, you have two choices. You may choose to put in extra hours during one of the semester breaks, generally, Thanksgiving, or Winter, or you may choose, as stipulated by university policy, to have your stipend reduced.
