Degree Requirements
The M.Ec. program requires the completion of a graduate exit exam or a practicum/internship as the culminating activity. The M.Ec. requires a completion of a minimum of 30 credits, including one course in research seminar, two core courses in microeconomic theory, two core courses in statistical methods and econometrics, four courses in electives and three credits of culminating activity.
A required meeting with the graduate coordinator will take place typically during your second semester to discuss your project to be completed in the capstone course.
A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 is required for continuation in and graduation from the program. All requirements for the degree must be completed within a period of seven years.

- Elective Courses (12-15): Twelve – fifteen credits in approved courses that represents a disciplinary or interdisciplinary focus area. Courses must be approved by the graduate program director and cannot include more than 3 undergraduate credits. At least three credits must be economics electives.

- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Scores We only require official scores for the GRE verbal, quantitative and analytical tests, if you do not have one semester of calculus and two semesters of statistics, with a grade of B or above on your college transcripts. Another exception is that of the Fast Track students (see Frequently Asked Questions).
- Writing Sample A writing sample of an academic paper or essay written as part of your college coursework.
- Letters of Recommendation Three letters of recommendation, with at least two coming from academic faculty.
- Graduate Assistantship Application Deadline: February 15. Automatic consideration is given with your application to the program.
