“The President’s Own” United States Marine Band Concert

For the first time in 10 years, “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band will return to Boise, Idaho, as part of its highly anticipated Coast to Coast tour. The band will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. on October 25, 2024, at the Capital High School auditorium, located at 8055 W. Goddard Rd., Boise, ID 83704. This concert is co-sponsored by Capital High School and the Boise State University Department of Music.

Free tickets will be available starting September 25, 2024 through the Marine Band’s ticket platform, marineband.ticketleap.com. Tickets are limited to four per request, and seating will be general admission. Ticket holders must be seated by 7:15 p.m., at which point any remaining seats will be released to the standby line.

The concert program, curated by Lt. Col. Nowlin, will feature a blend of musical selections in the style of the band’s 17th Director, John Philip Sousa, who initiated the concert tour tradition in 1891. Attendees can expect a rich variety of music, including traditional band repertoire, Sousa marches, contemporary compositions, vocal and instrumental solos, and a patriotic salute to the Armed Forces.

Since 1891, “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band has brought a White House experience from Washington, D.C., to the farthest corners of the nation, with special concerts enjoyed by generations of Americans. This year’s 30-day Coast to Coast tour will include 28 performances across 12 states, including Colorado, Idaho, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and West Virginia.

The Marine Band, America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization, was founded in 1798 and has performed for every U.S. President since John Adams. Known as “The President’s Own” since the days of Thomas Jefferson, the band’s primary mission is to provide music for the President of the United States and the Commandant of the Marine Corps.
