The Idea of Nature Public Webinar Series presents “Slow Plants on a Burning Planet” with Jared Farmer, the Walter H. Annenberg Professor of History at the University of Pennsylvania at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023 via Zoom. Farmer has temporal expertise in the long nineteenth century and regional expertise in the American West. His recent work has turned to global environmental history across the modern period. An award-winning author of four books, Farmer most recently published “Elderflora: A Modern History of Ancient Trees.”
Originally from Provo, Utah, Farmer earned degrees from Utah State, the University of Montana and Stanford University. He has family roots in Bear Lake County, Idaho, and lived at the Ernest and Mary Hemingway House in Ketchum as both a past and future resident writer.
