The 2024 Juried Exhibition will showcase artistic techniques and innovative media to communicate scientific and technological data and concepts. Entries will be evaluated on conceptual rigor, aesthetic criteria, and the work’s ability to communicate a scientific topic effectively.
The exhibition theme encourages a diverse range of expertise to encompass various science and technology fields while remaining accessible to non-experts. This year our chosen theme is “The Colors of Water.” From a molecular level to macroscopic and planetary behavior, water is a deceptively complex molecule that gives rise to unexpected and exciting physical and chemical properties. This theme hints at a traditional art medium to encourage a reflection on the intrinsic properties of water, its interactions with light, its forms and states, its connection with life, its environmental role, and its function as a resource for humans and society.
Partner or group work is encouraged, especially teams with complementary skill sets (e.g., art majors paired with science majors). Students should submit their artworks by May 15 with the juried exhibition submission form.
The Center for Visual Arts will be open to the general public on May 22 at 5 p.m. to display submitted artworks, celebrate participants and announce the winners.
