About this event

Presenter: Ellie Dworak, Associate Professor and Research Data Librarian at Boise State

Abstract: “Computing in libraries dates back to the late 1930s, well before the introduction of online catalogs and databases, and library professionals have been experimenting with artificial intelligence since the early 1940s. This talk will explore the development of expert systems technologies, knowledge bases, and other historical efforts to automate the specialized knowledge of the experienced reference librarian, while also discussing potential future AI applications in library services.”
