The Boise State Department of Psychological Science presents John Oliffe from the University of British Columbia as the Fall 2022 Invited Speaker for a limited lecture series focused on pressing issues surrounding gender and mental health. Oliffe, an internationally-recognized expert on men’s mental health, will speak on his work in this area in two, free public lectures on Oct. 11 and 12.
Oliffe’s work focuses on masculinities as it influences men’s health behaviors and illness management, and its impact on partners, families and overall life quality. Findings drawn from his research offer guidance to clinicians and researchers in psychosocial prostate cancer care, smoking cessation and male suicide prevention. Oliffe also leverages descriptive research findings and needs analyses to design and formally evaluate tailored e-health and community-based interventions for men and their families.
