Academic Mamas Events

What we do

Monthly meetings

Monthly meetings are on the last Friday of the month at noon. It takes a village to raise a child, and it takes a village to support mothers as they navigate parenting. Our drop-in once-a-month meetings are a way to connect, celebrate and support one another. Each month has a unique theme around which our conversations are centered. Join us when you can and you are welcome to bring a friend or your little one.

To join any of our meetings, please email Jennifer Weaver (jenniferweaver@boisestate.edu) for an invite or Zoom link.

Family and mom-only social events

Informal social events, such as family picnics/playdates or mother’s networking events. These are on a drop-in basis and there is no obligation to attend every one– feel free to drop in if you can! Those who are on maternity leave are very welcome to attend (and it is an excellent opportunity to eat lunch with both hands as there are always willing volunteers to help with babies).

Weekly work circle

New! Coming Fall 2024, an Academic Mamas weekly “work circle.” Join us on Zoom once a week on Wednesdays from 10:30-11:45am to get work done in a supportive environment! Bring your writing project, analyses, spreadsheets or to-do list and we’ll work together to move ourselves forward. Every little bit helps! Groups will begin in September. Please email jenniferweaver@boisestate.edu for more information or to join.

Speed-friending for moms

Once a year we hold a special academic mamas meeting to allow you to meet and connect with a wide array of mothers from across campus in a “speed dating” style event.
