Morrison Center Recital Hall, C200
A perennial favorite with the Boise Chamber Music Series and the Boise State Department of Music, the Horszowski Trio returns for their fourth appearance with a new cellist, Ole Akahoshi, who joins Rieko Aizawa on piano and Jesse Mills on violin. The trio brings a set of three commissioned works titled “Fantasiestücke Project,” inspired by the music of Robert Schumann, each by a different American composer. The commissioned works commemorate their 10th Anniversary. The trio premieres these compositions at Yale University three days before the Boise concert. The Horszowski Trio will also play Smetana’s passionate G minor Trio Op. 15 and Robert Schumann’s magnificently romantic Trio in D Minor, Op. 63.
Giving performances that are “lithe, persuasive” (The New York Times), “eloquent and enthralling” (The Boston Globe), and described as “the most compelling American group to come on the scene” (The New Yorker), the Horszowski Trio has quickly become a vital force in the international chamber music world.
