The Voces Internship of Idaho matches qualifying Latinx students in internships in Idaho newsrooms of their choice for a semester of paid on-the-job learning (subject to location and newsroom restrictions). Independent mentorship by board members and volunteers is an important aspect of this internship program. Students of all majors are encouraged to consider applying for internship in broadcast and print journalism, reporting, photography/videography, research, production, editing, graphic design, and many other newsroom roles.
Ximena Bustillo, one of the co-founders of the program, graduated from Boise State in media and political science and now words as a political reporter for NPR.
The internship provides a $6,000 stipend for 20 weeks of part-time work and mentorship for Latinx-identifying students in Idaho colleges and universities as well as recent graduates.
The next application window opens May 1 and closes June 2, 2023.
