Juried exhibitions at galleries in Pennsylvania and Hawaii selected artwork by Lily Lee, associate professor and graduate program director in the Department of Art, Design, & Visual Studies, for exhibitions this summer.
The juried exhibition, “Backroads: Further on Ahead” at the Vestige Concept Gallery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, included an artwork from Lee’s ongoing series the Great Basin Murders. This collaborative body of work combines Lee’s textile artwork with photography by Carrie Quinney, multimedia coordinator in the College of Education. The exhibition which ran July through August “showcased works of art that venture off the beaten path.”
The Wailoa Center in Hilo, Hawaii, also included artwork by Lee in their “Abstract Only!” 12th Annual Multimedia National Juried Exhibition held in August. Contemporary sculptor, printmaker and fine furniture maker Lonny Tomono selected two works by Lee for this exhibition of abstract artwork which is organized by the Hawai’i Island Art Alliance.
