The Pacific Northwest section of the Mathematical Association of America recently awarded Laurie Cavey, professor of mathematics, the 2022 Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics award.

“Laurie Overman Cavey has a decades-long track record of meaningful and innovative leadership in education, as both a mathematics instructor for secondary, undergraduate, and graduate students since 1990 and as a teacher educator for K-12 teachers and teacher candidates (in-service and pre-service teachers). She brings innovation and rigor to instruction and curriculum design. No matter her students’ age, their level of education, their facility with mathematics or with mathematics pedagogy, she meets her students wherever they are, fosters their belief in their ability to learn, and supports them as they grow.”
