Music Departments Major Ensemble Concerts

Boise State Symphonic Winds performs “HeArt and Soul”
sponsored by the new Boise State School of the Arts
Sunday, November 5 | 7:30 – 9:00pm | Morrison Center Main Hall

Featuring:

  • Idaho Dance Theatre performing to movements from Carl Orff’s Camina Burana
  • The Photographic Art of John Francis paired with Vulcan Forge composed by Grammy winning composer Michael Daugherty
  • Symphonic Winds featuring Frank Ticheli’s Shenandoah and John Mackey’s The Frozen Cathedral
  • In collaboration with the Boise State Arts and Humanities Institute

Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors. Children, non-Boise State students of any age (with ID), and Boise State faculty, staff and students with ID are admitted free.  All concert proceeds fund Boise State Music Scholarships.  Convenient parking for non-Boise State parking permit holders attending events in the Morrison Center Main Hall is available just south of the Morrison Center. Just follow the signs and/or parking attendant’s directions.

 

Boise State University Symphony Orchestra Halloween “Spook-Tacular”
Sunday, October 29 | 7:30 – 9:00pm | Morrison Center Main Hall

This program is suitable for all ages.  Members of the audience (as well as the orchestra) are encouraged to come in costume.  The theme of this year’s Spook-Tacular concert is “Brush Up Your Shakespeare,” featuring music from and inspired by the famous playwright.

The program includes:

  • Nicolai-Overture to “Merry Wives of Windsor”
  • William Walton-2 Pieces from “Henry V
  • Vaughan Williams-Sir John in Love: Fantasia on Greensleeves
  • Tchaikovsky-Incidental Music to “Hamlet”
  • Mendelssohn-Incidental Music to “Midsummer Night’s Dream”
  • Smetana-Symphonic Poem “Richard III”
