Major and Career Exploration

The third ingredient in first-year success is to embrace major and career exploration.

What do we mean by major and career exploration?

As a first-year college student, you have the opportunity to explore different fields of study, learn about various career paths and identify what aligns best with your skills, passions and goals.

One way to explore is through your general education courses and elective credits. These are required courses where there’s room for you to choose between several options. Pay attention to what interests and excites you. As new interests surface, talk to your Academic Advisor and Career Counselor to find ways to transform those interests into degree pathways and future careers.
