Comments/Notes
- Courses listed may require prerequisites. Please view the Undergraduate catalog to view the prerequisites
- View Sociology BS Degree Plan for specific course requirements and descriptions, including prerequisites.
- Courses to complete before reaching upper division standing (58+ credits):
- SOC 101
- Recommended electives/prerequisites: SOC 230, SOC 105, or GENDER 200
- Permission Numbers: It is common for Sociology majors to take an Upper-division Sociology elective in the second semester of their second year with the permission of their instructor. In this case, email the instructor for the section of the course you intend to register for to request a permission number.
- We recommend discussing goals with an academic advisor and how you can customize needed electives in the Sociology major. Many students select a minor or a certificate(s) to meet electives or complete research and/or assistantships within the Sociology Department itself. Here is how to add a class with a permission number.
