Confocal Raman Microscopy

Confocal Raman microscopy is an advanced analytical technique that combines confocal microscopy with Raman spectroscopy to provide detailed chemical and molecular information at a microscopic scale. It uses laser light to excite molecules in a sample, which then scatter light at specific frequencies corresponding to their vibrational modes (Raman scattering). By focusing on a small volume with high spatial resolution, confocal Raman microscopy allows for non-destructive, label-free imaging of the chemical composition, molecular structure, and distribution of materials within a sample.

Project

Protein Analytics

Protein analytics involves the study and characterization of proteins, focusing on their structure, composition, function, and interactions. It encompasses a variety of techniques used to analyze protein purity, concentration, molecular weight, folding, modifications, and activity. It helps in determining the biological activity of proteins, their stability, and how they interact with other biomolecules.

Project

Biological Ice

Biological ice refers to ice that forms in biological systems or environments, often in the context of freezing conditions that affect living organisms or biological samples. It can involve the study of how cells, tissues, or organisms survive and respond to freezing, as well as the formation of ice in biological fluids. Understanding biological ice is crucial for improving freezing techniques and studying organisms that thrive in extreme cold.

Project

Cryopreservation

Cryopreservation research focuses on the science of preserving biological materials, such as cells, tissues, organs, and embryos, by cooling them to very low temperatures to halt all biological activity, including decay and metabolic processes. This research explores optimal freezing techniques, the use of cryoprotectants (substances that protect cells from ice damage), and the conditions needed for long-term storage without harming the biological integrity of the materials. The goal is to successfully thaw and revive the preserved materials while maintaining their functionality.

Project

Forensics

Forensic research using confocal Raman microscopy involves applying this technique to analyze microscopic evidence in criminal investigations. Confocal Raman microscopy can provide non-destructive, high-resolution chemical analysis of trace materials such as fibers, paints, drugs, explosives, inks, and biological samples (like skin or blood). It helps forensic scientists identify the molecular composition and chemical structure of substances without the need for extensive sample preparation. This method is particularly useful for distinguishing between similar-looking substances, detecting contaminants, and analyzing layered structures, making it valuable for crime scene analysis.
