Timeline

The academic calendar takes a little getting used to. Planning starts early to recruit the next semester’s students. This timeline will help you stay ahead of due dates. Work U opportunities are typically 13 weeks.

Students spend 10 hours per week on site and 75 minutes each week in the classroom.

Timeline to Receive a Work U Intern for Fall 2025

  • February 21, 2025: Deadline to submit your Work U opportunity to the Work U program (How to post your opportunity)
  • February / March: Students apply to Work U & organizations are notified of their intern match for approval
  • August 8, 2025: Virtual Mentor Orientation, 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. (MST)
  • August 25, 2025: Students begin Work U course
  • September 1, 2025: Students begin internship with you this week
  • November 24 – November 28, 2025: No internship during fall break (Thanksgiving week)
  • December 1, 2025: Estimated last week of internship

Timeline for Spring 2026 Work U Internships

  • September 13, 2025: Deadline to submit your Work U opportunity to the Work U program (How to post your opportunity)
  • September / October / November: Students apply to Work U & organizations are notified of their intern match for approval.
  • December 4, 2025: Virtual Mentor Orientation, 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. (MST)
  • January 12, 2026: Students begin Work U course
  • January 19, 2026: Students begin internship with you!
  • March 16-20, 2026: No internship during spring break
  • Late April 2026: Estimated last week of internship

  • August 2026: (date TBD) Students begin Work U course
  • August 2026: (date TBD) Students begin internship with you
  • November 2026: (date TBD) No internship during fall break / Thanksgiving week
  • Early December 2026: (date TBD) Last week of internship
