Internships – It’s important to gain hands-on experience in your chose field, build skills relevant to your industry, apply the knowledge you’ve gained in the classroom to real-world situations, and make strong connections. It is highly recommended that you gain some time of experience while you are still in college.
Work UÂ – Work U is similar to an internship but with some key differences. You apply to the program and if accepted, you are placed into an opportunity based on your interests. Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) – National Science Foundation – These are great opportunities that provide you excellent experience in research all over the country. These positions generally occur over a ten week period over the summer. They include a stipend salary, food and housing, and relocation allowance.
Handshake – Developing hands-on skills through a part-time, full time, or on-campus job can help advance your career. These skills will be important to emphasize to a potential employer. Handshake is the best place to start a search for on-campus and off-campus jobs.Â
