What Can I do With This Major – Explore information on your chose field, explore other majors, and/or minors. This provides information on the various areas, employers, and strategies to make the most of your decision.
Virtual Career Center (Career Planning) – Find online workshops that will help with career exploration, career planning, the job search, resumes, cover letters.
Experience
Internships – It’s important to gain hands-on experience in your chose field, build skills relevant to your industry, apply the knowledge you’ve gained in the classroom to real-world situations, and make strong connections. It is highly recommended that you gain some time of experience while you are still in college.
Work UÂ – Work U is similar to an internship but with some key differences. You apply to the program and if accepted, you are placed into an opportunity based on your interests. You will work on professional projects for a local organization under the guidance of a mentor. Click on the link to learn more and see current opportunities.
Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) – National Science Foundation – These are great opportunities that provide you excellent experience in research all over the country. These positions generally occur over a ten week period over the summer. They include a stipend salary, food and housing, and relocation allowance.
Handshake – Developing hands-on skills through a part-time, full time, or on-campus job can help advance your career. These skills will be important to emphasize to a potential employer. Handshake is the best place to start a search for on-campus and off-campus jobs.Â

Resume and cover letter – Through a resume and cover letter you will show an employer your most relevant experience and why you are qualified for the position. Start developing your materials by using our handouts, workshops, or one on one appointments.Â
Interviewing – An interview may be the last step in the hiring process and its important to create a good impression. Knowing how to answer interview questions and practice is the best way to ace your next interview. At Career Services we offer multiple ways to get help building your interview skills.Â
