Strength & Conditioning / Sport Performance:

The sports performance department is responsible for developing and enhancing the physical, mental and emotional qualities that impact athletic performance and well-being for Boise State student-athletes.  

This position will work exclusively with all Olympic sports. Potential candidates will receive a unique opportunity to be a part of our multidisciplinary Sports Performance, Health & Wellness program. The selected candidate will gain valuable experience collaborating with strength & conditioning, sports medicine, performance nutrition and sports psychology. At BSU we are striving to create a high performance model that puts the health and well-being of the student-athlete at the forefront.  

Responsibilities during this internship will include but are not limited to: 

  • Assisting staff with the development and implementation of training programs for all Olympic sports demonstrating and teaching proper strength training
  • Running and change of direction mechanics
  • Maintaining the upkeep of facilities
  • Participation in an academic internship curriculum 

Athletics Media Relations:

A successful intern will have an interest in writing, specifically features, have attention to detail and being eager to learn about communications in today’s college athletics setting.

Duties will include:

  • Writing
  • Research
  • Web updates
  • Data input.

A SA Intern will be:

  • On time, reliable, communicative, excited to be part of our team.

Skills interns will develop:

  • An understanding of how information is communicated from our office to different audiences (i.e. internal administrators, coaches, student-athletes and external media, fans, etc.)

Bronco Alumni Association (BAA) / Membership Development:

As an intern in Membership Development, you’ll be an integral part of our team, working closely with both the Membership Development department and other facets of the BAA. This role offers a unique opportunity to dive into the interconnected realms of ticket sales, fundraising, marketing, and communications, gaining firsthand experience in how they work together to achieve optimal results. We’re seeking a proactive and enthusiastic student who is eager to learn and driven by a genuine desire to make a positive difference.

Duties will include:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service to season ticket members and donors, handling inquiries, solving problems, and ensuring they have a positive experience with the program.
  • Support with administrative duties like report preparation, document organization, and scheduling meetings for membership development activities.
  • Contribute innovative ideas to enhance membership development strategies, events, and communications, aiming to boost donor and ticket holder satisfaction and retention.

A SA Intern will be:

  • A team player, customer service oriented, creative, driven, and passionate about helping others.

Skills interns will develop:

  • Strategic thinking, TEAM mentality, organizational skills, attention to detail, relationship building

Bronco Alumni Association (BAA) / Varsity B Sport Enhancement:

The Varsity B/Sport Enhancement student athlete intern will support Varsity B as it works to increase engagement with our alumni base. The intern will also assist in sport specific outreach to foster increased engagement as well as micro-donations to sport enhancement funds.

Duties will include:

  • Posting updates to athlete network as well as Varsity B social media platforms
  • Alumni event planning and ideation
  • Email communications to alumni and sport specific audiences

A SA Intern will be:

  • Organized, positive, open-minded, creative, and passionate about Boise State Athletics

Bronco Alumni Association (BAA) / Donor Engagement Assistant

The Donor Engagement Assistant will support the Bronco Athletic Association staff in assisting both philanthropic donors and season ticket holders with a variety of requests they may have. 

Duties will include:

  • Assist staff in a variety of donor engagement items including (but not limited to): Bronco Athletic Association Membership FAQs, gift processing, Bronco football and men’s basketball parking FAQs and other assistance to the BAA as needed. 

A SA Intern will be:

  • Driven to assist members of the community that are providing financial resources to Bronco student-athletes
  • Passionate in helping others and willingness to help in a variety of areas.

Skills interns will develop:

  • Communication skills
  • Insight into the day-to-day operations of external affairs with the Boise State Athletic Department

Nutrition:

The Sport Nutrition Office provides student-athletes with the resources they need for nutrition to support optimal health and performance.  

Sports Nutrition spans a wide-variety of responsibilities that the student-athlete will help support.  

These duties will include: 

  • Creating education material (newsletter, instagram posts, etc).    
  • Helping manage fueling stations (stocking, ordering, budgeting).
  • Conducting hydration testing for student-athletes.
  • Helping create recipes and cooking class templates.
  • Learning how to review vitamin D and ferritin blood work.
  • Evaluating sports supplements for legality, safety, quality, and efficacy.
  • Assisting in team talks and presentations.
  • Participating in day to day needs of the Nutrition Department.
  •  Open to any other duties the student-athlete is interested in.  

BroncoLife:

The BroncoLife Program is a department wide commitment to focus on the whole person, emphasizing the transition to college, personal development and planning for career. 

Bronco Life interns will work closely with BL staff to plan dynamic and impactful programs to develop and empower student-athletes to be positive influences in their community and to help them reach their full potential in both their college careers and lives outside of sport.

Duties will include but are not limited to: 

  • Research and development of Bronco Life events and programs
  • Event planning and execution
  • Admin support for Bronco Life initiatives, meetings and events
  • Social media content creation and organization
  • BroncoLife “Tabling” at assigned events 
  • And duties as assigned and or asked for… 

Ticketing:

The Ticket Office aims to deliver a first-class fan experience for our Boise State fanbase. We focus on providing excellent customer service in-person, over the phone, and through email.

Interns will receive education in the following areas:

  • Sales
  • Customer Service
  • Multi-generational communication 
  • And various ticketing software platforms

Typical duties include:

  • Processing ticket sales
  • Monitoring the message inbox
  • Troubleshooting account issues
  • And following up on customer inquiries 

Event and Facility Management Intern

The Boise State Athletics events team is seeking a student who is interested in learning about facility and event operations.  This student will have the opportunity to assist our events/facilities team with Boise State University and non-university groups that rent space in the Albertsons Stadium, Caven Williams, Stueckle Sky Center, and others.  Our department goal is to provide the best customer service to our teams, staff, spectators, as well as renters and their guests. 

Duties will include: 

  • Work side by side with event  and facility manager
  • Create event specific documents, layouts, and signage 
  • Attend event operations, concessions/catering and vendor related meetings
  • Cover entry level/recurring events 
  • Assist event manager larger rentals/varsity events
  • Assist building facility specialist(s)
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Building/room sets
  • Event setups/strikes
  • Facility Prep
  • Learn custodial tasks (suites, banquet rooms, windows, etc.)

A Event & Facility Management Intern will be:

  • Hardworking with Attention to Detail
  • Customer Service Oriented
  • Available to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Able to lift 50+ pounds and capable of being on his/her feet for long periods of time

Skills interns will develop:

  • Student will become comfortable with creating/updating event specific documents 
  • Student will become comfortable with creating/reading room layouts  
  • Student will become comfortable with navigating Albertsons Stadium, Caven Williams Indoor Stueckle Sky Center, and other rentable Athletics facilities 
  • Student will become familiar with Boise State University and Mountain West conference policies and procedures.

**NOTE: 1 intern (total) will spend time with each of the 5 mentor’s listed. Assisting in the areas of Facility Management, Guest Services, Athletic Events and Stueckle Sky Center Events.  

Strategic Communications:

Direct and execute strategic communication and marketing plans that promote and advance the vision and goals of Boise State Athletics.  

Identify growth opportunities to create awareness and brand loyalty to differentiate Boise State Athletics to key stakeholders, decision makers, influencers, and future student-athletes.

The Strategic Communications summer internship opportunity will provide insight and hands-on experience for an individual interested in pursuing a career within the sports communications field. The role of Strategic Communications includes the following objectives.

  • Promote and advance the mission and goals of Boise State Athletics.
  • Identify growth opportunities to create awareness and brand loyalty to differentiate Boise State Athletics to key stakeholders, decision makers, influencers, potential student-athletes, coaches, etc.

Duties will include:

  • Assist communications team in developing, implementing, and monitoring communications strategies to further department objectives.
  • Research and develop content to support communications efforts, including newsletters, website copy, brochures, press releases, etc. that define, inform, track and report performance. 
  • Monitor analytics and create reports detailing the outcomes of communications campaigns and strategies.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and make recommendations for adjustments to communications strategies and practices.
  • Provide logistical support for on-campus interviews
  • Assist with the planning of announcements and promotional events to help keep the organization top of mind
  • Develop a media list of hometown news outlets and contacts for key student-athletes across all 18 sports.
  • Develop contact list and assist with logistics for a campaign to target college football influencers.
  • Identify and contact southern Idaho landmarks to brainstorm opportunities to activate around nationally televised football games, i.e., shining orange/blue lights on Shoshone Falls, Bronco themed corn maze, etc.

A SA Intern will be:

Business Development and Revenue Innovation:

The Business Development and Revenue Innovation department is responsible for managing and executing new and existing revenue opportunities within the athletic department using innovative and ROI-driven strategies. BDRI is also responsible for Boise State’s in-house name, image, and likeness (NIL) program. 

BDRI interns will:

  • Assist in day-to-day related tasks of the business development and revenue innovation department. 
  • Assist with our top-rated in-house name, image, and likeness program and processes. 
  • Assist in the strategizing and project management tasks that take place within the department. 

Duties will include:

  • Day-to-day tasks of the department.
  • Help curate communication that will be distributed amongst different groups of people.
  • Assist in the project management tasks within the department, including streamlining NIL processes.
  • Help with other tasks that arise over the course of the internship.

A SA Intern will be: 

  • Dedicated, creative, eager to learn, a problem-solver, personable and a great communicator (written and oral). 

Skills interns will develop:

  • Basic project management skills
  • How to navigate and understand the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) space
  • Networking with others in the department and outside sources

Creative Services Intern (Two Areas: Post Production & Graphic Design):

Creative Services includes areas of Live Production (Broadcasting), Post Production (Editing for hype videos/social media content/etc) and Graphic Design-promoting the Boise State Athletics brand and the individual programs within the department.

POST PRODUCTION

The Post-Production intern will learn the basics of videography/editing while helping promote athletic teams and the department at large, by large and small scale video projects.

The Post-Production intern would work with the Creative team to catalogue/label existing highlights…archive footage, and create video content during the off-season.  

The successful Creative Services Intern will be:

  • Driven, dedicated, proactive, and without ego.

Projects will include:

  •  videography and editing for programs across the athletic department

Skills you will develop:

  • Basic project management
  • DSLR Camera use/videography techniques
  • Editing within the Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Networking
  • Potential for further student-work later in academic career.

Marketing / Fan & Community Engagement:

Develop strategies to reach out to community partners to enhance or establish the Boise State presence within community events to cross promote our upcoming events.

The Community & Fan Engagement Intern will support the Boise State Athletics Marketing Department by connecting with community partners to implement marketing strategies to reach new/unaware segments of Bronco Nation to advance Buster’s Kids Club and the overall Boise State Brand.

Duties will include:

  • Assist in finding events to pursue
  • Develop and implement marketing plans for events
  • Attend local events in the community as a Boise State ambassador

SA Intern will be:

  • Enthusiastic people person

  • Work creatively to connect the Boise community to Boise State Athletics

Background Check. Weekend Availability/Flexibility

Equipment Management:

The Equipment Office is responsible for outfitting Boise State’s athletic teams with the necessary gear,  equipment and accessories to perform their sport. This staff is responsible for overseeing the ordering process, receiving and inventory and passing along vital product knowledge / specifications and maintenance information.  

An intern, in this role, will learn these systems, perform them with assistance, support the Equipment staff and their summer objectives, as assigned.  

Duties for this intern will include:

  • Assist with receiving and inventory new product / equipment
  • Assist with receiving owned team product / equipment, inventory, maintenance and storage of
  • Assist with distribution of product / equipment
  • Assist with team ordering
  • Assist with evaluating logos / branding
