Students have plenty to keep them busy throughout the academic year. Self-care should always be a priority and begins with a safe, comfortable, healthy home. Your student should start thinking now about where they will live throughout their time as a Boise State student.
Boise State’s housing application opens for sophomore and above students on Monday, March 8 at noon, and for first-year students on Monday, March 15. We encourage students to apply early as on-campus housing is limited. Assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis. After the initial application period, residents receive community assignments, match with roommates through an online system, and then receive room assignments. Move-In Day in August is a campus-wide event to welcome and settle all incoming residents into their homes for the academic year.
First-year students have access to nine residence halls. There are three residence halls and four apartment communities for sophomore and above students. Each community is unique, and staffed by the Housing and Residence Life team, who work hard to build a strong community focused on academics and wellness. On-campus housing makes it easy for your student to participate in the Living Learning Program, community celebrations and events, and educational programming.
There are a number of near and off-campus apartment communities that cater to students, too. Whether your student lives on or off campus, make them aware of the responsibilities that are inherent in living on their own. Talk with your student about what to look for when signing a lease or license agreement, how to plan and budget for monthly costs, how to navigate living with roommates, and cleaning their personal space.
Most importantly, Housing and Residence Life encourages you to reach out to us with the questions that come up as you and your student plan housing arrangements.
