The Biomedical Research Vivarium (BRV) provides care and housing for research animals essential to research projects. The BRV is supported, in part, by COBRE and operated by the Office of Research Compliance. The Office of Research Compliance provides assistance to faculty, staff, and students in conducting research, and some academic activities, in compliance with federal, state and local regulations most often involving:
- Human subjects research
- Animal care & use
- Biohazardous materials and recombinant nucleic acids
- Responsible conduct of research
University research activities are overseen by regulatory and compliance committees imposed by federal laws. Non-compliance may result in severe penalties to the institution and in some instances to the individual. It is the responsibility of all researchers to be familiar with university policies relating to areas of research requiring compliance with government regulations.
