How to use the Signature Mark
Clear Space and Sizing
Clear Space
To ensure the logo is highly visible and maximize its impact, always separate it from its surroundings – allow clear space. The minimum required clear space, surrounding all logos should be half the height of the logo on all sides as shown below. No other text or graphic elements, including other logos should be in this space. This is also the minimum distance the logo can be from the edges of a document, whether electronic or printed.
Minimum Print Reproduction
The University Signature Mark should not appear smaller than 2 inches wide by 0.6 inches tall in print, unless space dictates smaller size, in which case care should be taken to ensure that the Mark is legible. If the space is small enough that it makes “Boise State University” difficult to read, consider using one of the approved secondary logos.
Minimum Digital Reproduction
The minimum size of B symbol for digital reproduction is 57 pixels tall (to accommodate mobile app icons). The proportions of the B Symbol in relation to the Boise State University wordmark and baseline should not be changed.
Using the Mark on Different Backgrounds
When the University Signature Mark appears on a white background, the primary configuration is the blue B logo with an orange outline and the University Signature in blue.
Blue Background
When the University Signature Mark appears on a blue background, it reverses to white and the B logo runs orange. As a secondary configuration on a blue background, both the B logo and the wordmark may run entirely orange.
Orange Background
When the University Signature Mark appears on an orange background, it reverses to white and the B logo runs blue. As a secondary configuration on an orange background, both the B logo and the wordmark may run entirely blue.
Gray Background
When the University Signature Mark appears on a gray background, it reverses to white and the B logo may run blue or orange.
Black Background
When the University Signature Mark appears on a black background, it reverses to white and the B logo may run blue or orange.
One-Color Printing
In limited applications in which printing restrictions do not permit two-color usage, a grayscale or one-color blue combination can be used. The B logo reproduces at 50 percent black.
Using the Mark on Imagery
When placing the Mark over a photograph or video, the placement should be in an area of the photograph where there are no distracting patterns or elements and the Mark is clearly legible over the image. The photograph or video should be visible through the logo, instead of creating a box of color around the logo.
Altering the Signature Mark
What?! No way!
- The University Signature Mark may not be cropped, blurred, stretched or distorted in any way. This includes the use of shadows, outlines, filters, or any other effects. Do not change the colors of the logo.
- The Signature Mark should not be altered from its original form and cannot be adapted in any way. Alterations to the logo dilute the brand.
- The Signature Mark may not be incorporated or combined with any other mark, symbol or graphic to create a new mark.
- When using the Signature Mark, never separate the B and the “Boise State University.” These are not individual pieces that can be used independently, but instead, together make up the signature Boise State mark.
- The B symbol may not be used on its own without approval from the Brand Committee.
Alternative Text Descriptions
Regardless of which signature mark configuration you use, the alternative text description should be Boise State University.
