Using Horse Imagery
Images of live horses may be used sparingly in marketing materials with permission from the university’s Brand Committee. The use of horse images must meet the following criteria:
- Horses should not be seen in bridles or saddles, or being ridden by a person.
- Horses should not be shown in a fenced corral or enclosed setting.
- Depictions or photos of horseshoes are not permitted.
- Images of horses may not be used as a secondary logo or as repeated marketing symbols by any department, whether athletics or institutional. Such use dilutes the strength and value of the spirit mark – the Boise State Bronco.
Additionally, photos of the campus horse statues are permitted and offer an approved alternative for marketing materials when horse imagery is needed.
Buster Bronco
Images of Boise State’s mascot, Buster Bronco, may also be used on occasion in marketing materials with permission from the university’s Brand Committee. If your department is interested in using a photograph of Buster, connect with us first and let us know what you have in mind.
Select caricatures of Buster are approved for use on merchandise created by licensed vendors for retail sales or for use by student organizations.
