Two BMOL Faculty, Dr. Daniel Fologea and Dr. Sven Buerki, were each just awarded a Seed Translational Research Project. These awards are from the Accelerating Research Translation (ART) program of the National Science Foundation Technology, Innovation and Partnerships (NSF TIP) directive. The ART Program granted Boise State $6 million over four years; Fologea and Buerki are second round recipients of the ART program.
Dr. Daniel Fologea’s project (Track 1: Market-Oriented), “Liposomes for radiation-controlled release of anticancer drugs and immunotherapy agents,” seeks to develop innovative drug release mechanisms for treating cancer. He is partnering with startup RadRelease Pharmaceuticals and GT Medical Technologies for his research.
Dr. Sven Buerki’s project (Track 2 = Community-Engaged), “From Seed to Seeds – Promoting Novel Bioeconomy to Support Restoration of Threatened Plants,” plans to mitigate the biodiversity crisis. He is partnering with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, and the Idaho Army National Guard.
