Rosemary Eufemio (Ph.D. Student) and Dr. Konrad Meister recently published a book chapter in Ice Binding Proteins, which was a part of the book series of Methods in Molecular Biology. Ice Binding Proteins includes cutting-edge methods and protocols, provides step-by-step detail essential for reproducible results, and contains key notes and implementation advice from the experts.
Rosemary and Dr. Meister helped write the chapter, “Measurement of Ice Nucleation Activity of Biological Samples”. This was a part of the second section on measuring and identifying the activity of ice binding proteins. The abstract of their chapter is as follows: “Experimentation with ice-nucleating biomolecules is needed to advance the fundamental understanding of biotic heterogeneous ice nucleation. Standard experimental procedures vary with sample type. Here we describe a generalized primary purification and analysis process to measure ice nucleation activity of biological samples using an advanced freezing droplet assay.”
