In early September, Rosemary Eufemio (Ph.D. Student) and Emily Vernon (M.S. Student) attended the 15th International Conference on Physics and Chemistry of Ice, which took place at Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Japan. The conference was originally scheduled for September 2022, but was postponed due to a precaution due to COVID-19. Nonetheless, the conference covered many topics related to physical, chemical, biological, geological, and environmental aspects of ice. Rosemary presented her poster on, “Lichen Species Produce Highly Active and Stable Ice Nucleators, while Emily presented on, “Beyond Ice: Exploring How Antifreeze Proteins Interact with Lipid Membranes”. While not in conference related sessions and activities, Rosemary and Emily got to explore Japan.
