Dr. Laxman Mainali (Faculty) and his lab recently published in the journal of Current Eye Research. More specifically, his lab probed the interaction of alpha-crystallin with a model of human, porcine, and mouse lens-lipid membranes. The paper titled “Alpha-Crystallin Association with the Model of Human and Animal Eye Lens-Lipid Membranes is Modulated by Surface Hydrophobicity of Membranes,” supports the interaction of alpha-crystallin with model lens-lipid membranes is hydrophobic. Geraline Trossi-Torres and Matt O’Dell, both Ph.D. Students, were two key co-authors of this manuscript.
