The Department of Biological Sciences offers several scholarships to both graduate and undergraduate students. All scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement and/or demonstration of financial need. You must be admitted to Boise State University and have an active myBoiseState account in order to apply.

Department of Biological Sciences Scholarships require a brief essay (250-300 words).
- Essay Prompt: Describe your future goals in biological science. Discuss experiences that demonstrate your interest in biology. What achievements or activities show your motivation in education and science? How can this scholarship contribute to your success? If you have answered yes to any special interest questions, be sure to address that in your response. Special Interests Areas: Forestry, Wildlife Management, Earth Science Education, River Conservation and Raptor Research in South America or Latin America, Raptor Research Center, Pre-Professional, Entomology, Microbiology Course, Secondary Education, Environmental Studies.

Morely Nelson Biology Scholarship | Scholarship is for students who plan to enroll at least part time (6 credits UGRD; 5 credits GRD), have a 3.0 GPA, and are a biology major. This scholarship is for students that can demonstrate work to increase public knowledge and/or appreciation of conservation of species and wildlife habitat with particular involvement in raptor research or ecosystems in the west. Buchwitz Memorial Scholarship in Arts and Sciences is for graduate students who have an interest in Biology and have a record of academic excellence with a minimum 3.5 GPA, and plan to enroll full-time, and demonstrate financial need. Sarah Minckler Biology Scholarship | The Sarah Minckler Biology Scholarship was established in 1998 in memory of the late Sarah Minckler. Sarah was a senior at Boise State majoring in biology when she passed. During her time at Boise state she spent three weeks in the Owyhee desert doing biology research work and spent two weeks in Rome, Italy, and Istanbul, Turkey with a Boise State Tour. She had a love for the outdoors including fishing and camping. The Scholarship is for female students that will be juniors or seniors, that plan to enroll full-time (12 credits UGRD), have a 3.0 GPA and are a biology major.
