Undergraduate Programs

A bachelor of science degree in biology provides students with the intellectual and technical skills to succeed in a multitude of careers (e.g., medicine, forensics, genetics, laboratory sciences, natural resources management, animal biology, plant biology, etc.).

Students gain an understanding of living organisms, of how organisms interact with their environment, and of the process of biological investigation.

Boise State curriculum provides students with a knowledge base in molecular, cellular, organismal, ecological, and evolutionary biology, as well as allowing emphasis in the cellular, molecular and biomedical area, the ecology, evolution, and behavior area, and the secondary education field.

Degrees and Programs Offered

Bachelor of Science in Biology

General Biology Emphasis

The General Biology Emphasis is a comprehensive degree that encompasses the both the Cellular, Molecular, and Biomedical Emphasis and the Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior Emphasis. Students may also choose advanced courses in Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, and Zoology.
Degree Requirements for General Biology Emphasis

Cellular, Molecular, and Biomedical Emphasis

The Cellular, Molecular, and Biomedical Emphasis focuses on the study of life at the molecular level as well as: cellular morphology and function, genome organization, regulation of genetic expression and how these relate to biomedicine and disease. This emphasis area includes classes in Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, and Zoology.
