Overview
Many positions within ASBSU are elected annually by the student body. These positions, as well as any referendums, ballot initiatives, or other special elections, are voted on every spring by all eligible students. Scroll down to learn more about candidates, voting, and running for office.

Important Dates
There are several important election-related dates to pay attention to, whether you are planning to run or just want to vote. All dates and deadlines are final.
PREPARING TO RUN
Information
ASBSU will host information nights for anyone who is considering running for election. The dates and locations are included below.
First Session: Wednesday, February 25th, 6:30-7:30pm (Campus Visit)
Second Session: Thursday, March 5th, 6:30-7:30pm (Bishop Barnwell)
Third Session: Wednesday, March 11th, 6:00-7:00pm (Student Involvement and Leadership Center, 2nd floor SUB)
Fourth Session: Thursday, March 12th, 11:00am-12:00pm (Student Involvement and Leadership Center, 2nd floor SUB)
CAMPAIGNING
When to Campaign
The campaigning period begins on Monday, March 23rd. NO STUDENT MAY CAMPAIGN BEFORE THIS DATE. For more information on what constitutes campaigning, see ASBSU Elections Code.
Candidates will be able to table around campus during the week of March 23rd-27th and March 30th-April 3rd from 9 AM – 5 PM. Candidate sign ups for tabling will be released to approved candidates on Sunday, March 22nd at 10:00 am. Candidates will receive more instructions via email on Saturday, March 21st.
VOTING AND RESULTS
Voting
Elections occur over a two-day period, during which eligible students may vote through an online ballot send to their student email. ASBSU Elections follow a ranked-choice instant runoff voting system. Students rate the candidates in order of preference (1 being their favorite, 2 next favorite, etc.).
This year, voting is open from 12:00 am on Tuesday, April 7th, to 11:59 pm on Wednesday, April 8th.
Packets, Debates, Results
Election Packets
In order to be placed on the ballot, students must fill out an Election Packet. These packets will be available at midnight on Monday, March 9th. Elections Packets Close Friday, March 20th.
Candidate Debates
There will be two debates held between the candidates for office. The debate for President, Vice President, and Review Board Chief will be on Tuesday, March 31st, 6:30-8:30 pm in MCMR 205. The debate for the Associate Vice Presidents will be on Wednesday, April 1st, 6:30-8:30 pm in MCMR 205. Students are encouraged to attend both debates and learn more about those who want to represent them.
Results
Results will be announced campus-wide on Thursday, April 9th.
Elected students will be inaugurated on Thursday, April 30th, 6:30-7:30pm, in Bishop Barnwell.
