Boise, ID – On March 10th, the ASBSU Assembly and Senate voted to approve an amendment to our student government constitution. Following that vote, ASBSU President Isaac Celedon released the following statement.
“For years, our student government has struggled with unclear definitions of exactly who can vote and participate. This has led to both confusion for staff, and gaps in representation for our students. And over the past seven months, our team has been meeting with offices and staff around campus, gathering information and putting together a proposal to fix the problem. Through the relentless dedication and commitment of one of our executive members, Ethan LaHaug, I am pleased to say that we now have a solution.”
“In order to guarantee voting to more students and provide much-needed clarity for our campus partners, we have approved an amendment to our ASBSU constitution. The amendment moves us from determining participation based on fee-paying status, to now basing it on a student’s academic enrollment. Starting next spring in 2026, if you are a student taking at least three credits, you will be able to vote.”
“The decisions that we and the University make can affect all students, so I believe all students should have a say in picking student representatives to advocate for their needs.”
