Associate Professor, Art History
Craig Peariso teaches courses in Modern and Contemporary Art History and Visual Culture in the Department of Art at Boise State University. He received his Ph.D. in Art History and Criticism and Cultural Studies from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2006. Before arriving at BSU, he taught at the University of Southern Indiana and at Columbia University, where he was the recipient of an Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship from the Department of Art History and Archaeology.
His work has been featured in journals like Third Text and the Journal of American Studies, as well as in several edited volumes. His first book, Radical Theatrics: Put-Ons, Politics, and the Sixties, was published in 2014 by the University of Washington Press. Currently he is at work on a second book dealing with the rhetoric of democracy in postwar art criticism.
