1991-2000
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Club of Boise was founded to establish a dialogue about censorship and citizens’ rights in America. They sponsored the local organization Concerned Citizens for Police Accountability after multiple Boise residents were killed in officer-involved shootings in 1996. Additionally, the group organized presentations and held events about banned books, separation of church and state, and freedom of speech. The stated purposes of the group were to:

- “Work to preserve the Bill of Rights and the United States Constitution.”
