A staff position from 1935 to 1973, the Dean of Women was responsible for the general welfare of all female students. Her responsibilities were individual and group counseling in the general areas of personal, social, and educational problems. She served as a professional resource and support person for the Vice President of Student Affairs in all areas of student life. She was in charge of the organization and operation of women’s residence halls and acted as adviser to the Sororities, Panhellenic Council, Interdormitory Council, and other women’s organizations. She also conducted withdrawal interviews, served on various student and faculty committees, and was concerned with student-faculty relations.
