Celebrating Employees

When employees reach a milestone year, they receive a certificate, a pin, and recognition at the annual Employee Awards Breakfast. However, it is equally meaningful for employees to be celebrated at the college, division, and department levels. Below are several ideas for honoring employees and acknowledging their contributions:

  • Attend the Employee Awards Breakfast: Leaders and close colleagues attend this event together to show support for the employee’s achievement.
  • Attend Employee Appreciation Week Events: As a team, join the ice cream social, bowling, or other fun events throughout the week. Divisional and college leaders are encouraged to participate by serving ice cream at the ice cream social, making it a fun and personal way to celebrate.
  • Shout-Outs: Some employees appreciate public recognition, while others prefer a more private acknowledgment. By understanding an employee’s appreciation preferences, leaders and peers can ensure recognition feels meaningful. This recognition can be shown through emails, websites, “Thank a Bronco” messages, screen messages, bulletin boards/whiteboards, personalized card, and newsletters to spread the celebration across the community.
  • Department or College/Division Meetings: During regular meetings, add the employee’s name to a slide deck and have them stand to be recognized. This public acknowledgement highlights their milestone and shows appreciation in front of their peers.
  • Letter from the Vice President/Dean: Send a personalized letter from the Vice President or Dean to express appreciation for the employee’s dedication and service. This thoughtful gesture not only highlights their contributions but also strengthens the connection between leadership and staff, reinforcing the value of their hard work!
  • VP/Dean Coffee, Reception, or Lunch: Host a special gathering, such as a coffee hour, reception, or lunch, to honor the employee in a more intimate and celebratory environment.

These ideas can be tailored to fit the unique culture of each college or division, ensuring that employees feel valued and appreciated for their years of service.
