Career Outlook

Anthropologists with this emphasis study the origin, development, and behavior of humans. To enter the occupation, anthropologists and archaeologists typically need at least a master’s degree in anthropology or archaeology. Experience doing fieldwork in either discipline is also important. Employment of anthropologists and archaeologists is projected to grow 6 percent from 2021 to 2031, about as fast as the average for all occupations. About 800 openings for anthropologists and archaeologists are projected each year, on average, over the decade.
