Frequently Asked Questions

Hosting a Watch Party

  • Decide if you want to have an event for all televised games, a few, or only one.
  • Find a place (pub, bar, restaurant, home) that will agree to carry the game(s).
  • Decide/negotiate with the venue about whether there will be any “specials” on food/drink for your group. Events are “pay on your own” so hosts are not handling money.
  • Complete the Boise State Alumni Bronco Sports Watch Plan form. This form is critical and includes information about where and when the party will happen and will be posted on our website.
  • Call all your Bronco friends to invite them. The Alumni Association will help by sending an e-mail to area alumni to help you promote it in August and publish the link to our football watch page in our alumni newsletter.
  • Go to every game you say you’ll host.

Planning Pro Tips

  • Find another Bronco who can attend the event when you can’t.
  • Select a place that requires a deposit, a minimum head count, or minimum bar or food purchases. The Boise State Alumni Association cannot cover any expenses.
  • Make sure your venue will carry the game in its entirety and do your best to negotiate sound as well.
  • Keep an eye on broncosports.com for game time changes. Make sure you use the time listed for your region not Boise time.

Day-of Event Tips

  • Arrive early and decorate with some blue and orange—make your viewing areas look like a Bronco party! If you need pom poms or a Boise State flag to display, contact teresaharder@boisestate.edu ahead of time.
  • Greet Guests. Introduce new attendees to the regulars.
  • Take great up-close photos (at least some that are not posed) of fans in their Bronco colors/cheering. Send at least 2-3 of your best photos to teresaharder@boisestate.edu after the game watch or tag Boise State Alumni and Friends when you post to your own social media.
  • Share with us if you have fans who express a desire to be more deeply involved as an alumnus. We arecurrently developing geographic chapters in several states.
  • Thank the restaurant/bar host. Let us know if you have fabulous service so that we can call and thank them as well.
  • I’m open to feedback and any ideas you have to improve our events—send your compliments and suggestions for improvement to teresaharder@boisestate.edu. We’re here to support you.
  • Have fun!
  • Don’t worry if you only have a handful of Broncos at your first event. Have them bring their friends to the next one.
