Biography
Jonas C. Milton is known to be passionate about medicine and a beacon of leadership in his community. Early in his college career, he began working at the Treasure Valley Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory as a cadaveric dissector to prepare various anatomical structures for lecture. Growing into this role, he became an anatomy lab instructor for nursing, radiology and other undergraduate students before completing his freshman year.
Following this passion for medicine, he pursued undergraduate research in molecular biology, focusing on the NOTCH cell signaling pathway. Milton was awarded the IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) fellowship, receiving National Institute of Health grant funding to continue his research. He presented his findings at the statewide 2024 Idaho INBRE conference held at the University of Idaho and at the 2024 Idaho Conference of Undergraduate Research held at Boise State.
Recognizing the importance of blood donation after his aunt’s life was saved by an emergency blood transfusion, Milton assumed the co-president position of Boise State’s American Red Cross Club in 2023. Since assuming his role in the club, focused on organizing blood drives, he has led the club to collect nearly 400 units of blood. He held multiple other leadership positions in the Boise State Honors College, including being a member of the financial board, a peer mentor and a student speaker.
Following his leadership engagements, he represented Boise State at the 2024 Western Regional Honors Conference at California State University, Long Beach. Milton has also continued to volunteer at the Women’s and Children’s Alliance, advocating for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Milton is currently working as an organic chemistry instructional assistant and as a medical assistant in oculofacial, plastic and reconstructive surgery while preparing his application for medical school.
Milton is from Boise, Idaho.
