Can I use AI other than Gemini or ChatGPT Edu?
Gemini and ChatGPT Edu are the officially supported generative AI tools at Boise State. No other AI tools meet the university’s security, privacy, compliance, or legal standards. Therefore, you should not utilize any other generative AI tool using the University’s network or devices or your University credentials, including other versions of ChatGPT.
What is the difference between Gemini and ChatGPT Edu?
Gemini and ChatGPT Edu are both conversational AI tools. While Google Gemini is considered less advanced than ChatGPT, Gemini’s capabilities are suitable for many Boise State users.
How long will my Boise State ChatGPT license last?
Funding for ChatGPT Edu licenses is currently available for one year (FY25).
Can I use my Boise State ChatGPT Edu account for personal use?
It is recommended that you do not use personal devices, networks, credentials, or accounts to do work for the University and you should not use University devices, networks, credentials, or accounts for activities that are in no way related to your relationship to the University.
What happens if I already signed up for ChatGPT using my Boise State account?
If you used your Boise State account to sign up for a ChatGPT license, you will receive a separate email with information about your account. Please contact the Help Desk if you have questions.
What is Gemini for Google Workspace?
Gemini for Google Workspace is built right into Gmail, Docs, and Sheets to help you save time and be more productive. More details will be announced in September.
