On January 16, 2020, the Boise Co-Op hosted their Annual Local Growers meeting at the Linen Building in Boise. They reflected on the past year and discussed plans for the coming year. Dr. Cynthia Curl was the first ever keynote speaker at this annual event. She gave a talk entitled, “Is Organic Healthier? The Who, What, When, Where and Why of a Common Question”. Attendees included local growers, defined as being within 150 miles of Boise, as well as local chefs, restaurateurs and Co-Op staff. Dr. Curl discussed what we know, and what we still don’t know, about the potential health benefits of organic food for consumers, farmworkers, and the environment.
