Petition for Denied Students Seeking Admission

Appeals for admission decisions are opportunities for students in unusual situations to share how they have overcome challenges and show academic and/or personal improvement. We encourage students to submit a petition if there are extenuating circumstances or additional information not previously shared. Along with the required items listed on this page, please include any information that you feel is an important piece in determining your ability to be academically successful at Boise State University.

Required Items:

The Admissions Office must receive all of the following items, including this online form, before the Special Admissions Committee will review your petition. Incomplete petitions may be denied after 30 days.

1. Statement of Circumstances and the Online Form
2. Two (2) letters of academic reference from individuals who can support your academic potential. Letters from teachers and professors are preferred, but letters from counselors and employers may be provided.
3. Transcript(s) from most recent term; please note that high school students petitioning their admission decision must provide a transcript showing course information and grades from the fall semester of your senior year, and any additional semesters available at the time of appeal. Transfer students must provide official transcripts from each institution attended.
4. If applicable: Documentation in support of your Statement of Circumstances (such as medical issues, death in the family, learning disability, etc.).

Letters of academic reference and any supporting documents can be sent to admissions@boisestate.edu or mailed to Boise State Admissions, 1910 University Drive, Boise ID, 83725-1320.

It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that all items are received by the Admissions Department.
