Faculty Senate elections for terms that begin in August 2025 will take place from March 24 to April 14, with the following schedule:
- March 25 – April 4: Nominations
- April 7 – 14: Voting
- April 22: Newly-elected senators are welcomed at the final Faculty Senate meeting of the 2024-25 academic year
Curious about what’s involved in serving as a Faculty Senator?
The typical term length is two years (fall 2025 through spring 2027) with Faculty Senate meetings occurring from 3 to 5 PM on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month throughout the academic year. The first meeting in 2025-26 academic year is Aug 26 in the Lookout Room, Student Union Building.
Wondering what the Faculty Senate does?
The Faculty Senate is part of the shared governance structure at Boise State University and has six main functions:
- Recommend requirements for admission and for degrees;
- Act upon all new courses and curricula, changes in established curricula, and curricular policies;
- Recommend criteria for academic rank, tenure, and professional welfare;
- Provide for the review and mediation of disputes involving professional ethics and grievances;
- Recommend policies / procedures for the performance of research, scholarship and creative activities;
- Maintain committees and councils as indicated in the Faculty Constitution
