What is ARCC?
The Activity Reporting Coordinating Council (ARCC) serves as a collaborative group focused on streamlining faculty activity reporting and evaluation processes at Boise State University, particularly using Interfolio tools (Faculty 180 and Review, Promotion, and Tenure). ARCC works to ensure these tools are utilized to their full potential by collecting feedback from faculty and departments, advocating for improvements, and supporting data governance.
The Council is led by the Faculty Data and Reporting Analyst and Interfolio Administrator, Melissa Miller. Decisions about Interfolio tools are made upon recommendation from ARCC to the Interfolio Administrator and the Vice Provost for Academic Leadership and Faculty Affairs. Details about the structure and decision-making processes can be found here.
Purpose and Goals
- Promote Faculty Reporting Efficiency: Ensure faculty activity reporting and evaluation processes are aligned across the university to support Boise State’s mission and strategic goals.
- Gather and Incorporate Feedback: Provide a structured forum for departments and faculty to share concerns, identify challenges, and suggest improvements related to activity reporting and evaluation processes.
- Provide Support and Guidance: Recommend training and resources to ensure faculty and leadership understand how to use Interfolio tools and make the most of them for activity reporting and review processes.
- Enhance Transparency: Ensure clear data governance practices and transparent decision-making regarding access to faculty reporting data.
Guiding Principles
- Collaborative Decision-Making: ARCC operates within a shared governance framework, working with departments and faculty across the university to create streamlined and effective faculty reporting systems.
- Different Faculty Needs: The council ensures that processes are inclusive of all faculty ranks and types (tenure-track, clinical, research, etc.).
- Continuous Improvement: ARCC regularly reviews the effectiveness of activity reporting and evaluation tools and processes, ensuring they evolve based on user feedback and technological advances.
Subcommittees
ARCC consists of subcommittees that focus on distinct areas of faculty reporting:
- Activity Reporting: Oversees Faculty 180 usage, focusing on capturing faculty activities, partnerships, and research efforts.
- Annual Evaluations: Manages the processes related to faculty annual evaluations, ensuring they align with university policies.
- Other Review Types: Supports processes such as sabbatical reviews, post-tenure reviews, and biennial evaluations.
- Promotion and Tenure: Ensures that P&T processes are effective and aligned with university standards.
- Data Governance: Ensure effective management, access, and security of faculty activity data within Faculty 180 and other reporting tools, maintaining alignment with Boise State’s data governance policies.
