Mission

The mission of the Office of Academic Leadership and Faculty Affairs is to foster an inclusive environment that supports the career development of faculty and the growth of effective academic leaders by working with partners across Boise State to provide leadership development programs; to establish best practices, policies, and procedures; and to collaborate on development programs that help faculty members of all ranks reach their full potential as teachers, scholars and university leaders. The office contributes most directly to the University’s Strategic Planning goal to Foster Thriving Community.

Faculty Affairs

  • Faculty appointment, annual review, periodic review of tenured faculty, and tenure and promotion processes
  • Faculty sabbatical and other leaves
  • Student course evaluations
  • Faculty retention
  • Change in employee compensation (CEC) process for Academic Affairs
  • Faculty career development programs
  • Faculty personnel issues, grievances, and support resources
  • Academic Affairs honors and awards for faculty
  • Academic Affairs policy development and review
  • Liaison to and administrative support for Faculty Senate

Faculty Data and Analytics

  • Faculty data and reporting partner with Institutional Effectiveness, Human Resources and Workforce Strategy, and the Office of Information Technology
  • Faculty data analytics to inform decision-making
  • Faculty activity reporting system (Interfolio’s Faculty 180)
  • Faculty review, tenure, and promotion system (Interfolio’s RPT)

Academic Leadership Support and Development

    • Leadership development programs for faculty and academic administrators and department chairs/heads/directors
    • Retention of and support for academic leaders
    • Professional development workshops for academic leaders
    • Idaho Academic Leadership Academy

One of our goals is to provide just-in-time resources for faculty as well as for academic leaders, so this page will continue to evolve as we assess needs and coordinate with other campus units.
