The Interfaith Imperative: Engaging Religious Diversity in Higher Education
March 8, 2022 from 12 – 1 PM CST
A growing number of higher education institutions are recognizing the need to engage religious pluralism, foster interfaith cooperation, and embed interfaith literacy into curricular and cocurricular initiatives in light of ever-increasing global, national, and local religious diversity. This webinar will focus on ways a variety of institutions have been considering interfaith engagement to prepare students for work, life, and citizenship. Through participation and continued engagement in AAC&U and Interfaith Youth Core’s, these institutions have strengthened and expanded their campus curricular and cocurricular interfaith engagement. This session will share applicable models and provide space for discussion about interfaith cooperation as an institutional priority.
The discussion, led by Janett I. Cordovés, Director of Higher Ed Partnerships at IFYC and Dawn M. Whitehead, VP of the Office of Global Citizenship for Campus, Community, and Careers at AAC&U, features Francis Sweeney, Professor of Spanish and VP for Mission at Saint Mary’s College of California, David Keck, Chaplain of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and Kelly Dunlop, Associate Director of the Center for Campus Involvement at the University of Michigan.
