French Open Educational Resource Team’s Innovative Pressbook “Français Inclusif”
The French Open Educational Resource (OER) team at Boise State University partnered with local junior high and high school teachers to replace the costly reliance on expensive first- and second-year French textbooks with an original OER Pressbook and ancillaries. The project, titled “Français Inclusif,” is a free curriculum that prioritizes a diverse, multicultural, and inclusive approach.
The Français Inclusif Pressbook has received attention from leaders in the OER field, academic organizations, and Pressbooks – the platform on which the materials were built. The French OER team’s presentations and publicity about the project have resulted in widespread adoption and adaptation by French programs globally. Français Inclusif is now being implemented not only at Boise State and the Department of World Languages’ affiliate Concurrent Enrollment programs, but can also be adopted and/or adapted by French programs worldwide
